A superb original 1950s trompe l'oeil painting by California artist Phillip Kirkland. Signed on lower right "Kirkland." The frame is also painted with trompe l'oeil details and completes the entire composition. The shadows are particularly well rendered in this piece. The key hovering at the bottom of a piece of string looks and feels like you could literally pluck it out of thin air.
