Steel & Bronze Console Table Attributed to Maison Jansen
A French neoclassical inspired welded steel and bronze console table attributed to Maison Jansen, circa 1960s. The form of the table is evocative of Louis XVI furniture with the combination of materials being decidedly 20th century. The steel framework is hand-welded and the finely chased ram's heads and hooves are made of cast bronze. Originally, the table served as a dining base with a large glass top. The unusual marble top is a recent addition and creates new uses for the base. The table can now be a console, a center table or a sofa table.
