Monumental Root Wood Divider
Monumental Root Wood Divider
A truly monumental vintage specimen of root wood...(probably Moreton Bay Fig or Kapok tree). Carefully cut and scaled for use as a room divider, architectural centerpiece or for sheer sculptural value. Moreton Bay Figs, Kapoks, Strangler Figs all share a common feature of having "buttress roots." These buttress roots spread far and wide from the main trunk to keep the tree standing and to spread the trees ability to gather nutrients from poor soils in tropical and subtropical settings. This amazing piece has wonderful figuring and grain. Is beautifully polished and is completely free standing. It stands solidly in place with no need for any additional support.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition.
