Edmond Spence Chest
Edmond Spence Chest
An extraordinary Swedish long chest with an undulating series of drawers designed by Edmond Spence in 1950. Prior to moving to Mexico City and producing a body of work that has been dubbed "Mexican Modernism," works by Spence were manufactured in Sweden. This chest is a prime example of how the purity of a design can remain timeless. The series of offset undulating drawer fronts was an exceedingly difficult concept to bring to fruition and thus becomes the overriding detail on the piece. The chest has recently been refinished in a high gloss, obsidian black, piano-finished lacquer that helps to highlight the sculptural flow of the drawer fronts.

EXCELLENT, wear consistent with age and use
