A sleek 4 door buffet / cabinet that was designed by John Kapel for Glenn of California in the 1960's. Each of the 4 doors has a hand hold that is sculpted into the edge molding and creates what basically is the only design element on a rather sophisticated and understated credenza. The left side cabinet has two fitted drawers with an area for a adjustable lower shelf and the right side has two adjustable shelves. The ebonized finish has been recently refreshed on the exterior, with the interior being original or from an old refinishing. The wood under the dark finish is walnut and upon close inspection, you are able see some of the wood through the ebonization. The finish was achieved using an alcohol based aniline which is somewhat translucent and allows the grain of the wood to show. The photographs do not fully relate how beautiful the finish actually is. One of the drawers bears the Glenn of California label.
