An evocative pair of superbly carved Louis XVI style wooden wall-hanging trophies with details signifying different attributes of the "hunt", circa 1900. The surface of each of the pieces is in a wonderful and desirable state of distressed patination, with a coating of gesso present under what would have been a grisaille painted surface. One trophy is filled with the carved horns, bugles and regalia associated with the ceremonial and fanfare aspects of the hunt. The other is filled with the armorial and weaponry attributes of the hunt such as the pistols, rifles and muskets, ropes, gun powder bags and sheathed and unsheathed knives and spears. Note: the dimension in the listing is for one trophy. The second piece is slightly smaller in all directions.

Good. Structurally sound with desirable natural aged distressing to paint finish...just the way it should be!
