A Murano glass "rostrato" pendant / lantern, made in the 1950s by Italian glassmaker Barovier & Toso. The lantern body is surmounted by a carved glass lid and glass ring. The term "rostrato" refers to the applied glass peaks or "prunts" that are found on the body and top ring of the lantern. At the bottom of the fixture is a large solid brass ball that unscrews to allow access to the bulbs. The interior metal fittings and chain are brass and the fixture has been newly rewired. The glass is clear in color and appears slightly golden when lit.
