Quintet, a patinated steel sculpture by American sculptor Joey Vaiasuso, circa 2019. The title of this piece derives from the five elements that make up this composition. Mr. Vaiasuso is a virtuoso at composing poetically lyrical sculptures out of basic elements like the squared metal tubing seen here. His sensitivity towards angles and the dialogue that occurs between these elements is strengthened by the anthropomorphic scale of this piece which also maintains a semi-classical order... it rests on feet and legs, it has a core or center and it rises up to completion. The Richard Serra-esque patina provides a visual depth and an elegant texture and the splay of the top elements resolves in an exuberant, even joyful reach upward.
